Charlottesville Farmer's Markets

Charlottesville Farmer’s Markets

Charlottesville has so many local businesses producing meats, produce, wine, art, cheeses, and much more. One of the best places to get a taste of the local offerings and experience the Charlottesville community are the numerous farmer’s markets around Charlottesville. And with over 10 within driving distance, there are plenty to check out! Below are some of our favorite farmer’s markets in town.

Green Market at Stonefield

Thursdays (4pm-7pm) & Saturdays (8:30am-12:30pm) from May to October

Green Market at Stonefield is a new farmer’s market located in the Stonefield shopping center. Expanding quickly to over 20 vendors, the market boasts upscale producers all under one large tent. Outside the tent, there is a large grassy area perfect for children and families to relax. Additionally, on Saturday mornings, the market often offers a variety of lawn games. After the farmer’s market closes, you can continue your shopping at the Shops at Stonefiled, or catch a movie at the Regal Stadium theater.

Favorite Vendors: My Chocolate Shoppe, Early Mountain Vineyards, Burger Bach

Charlottesville City Market

Saturdays (7am-Noon) from April to October

Charlottesville City Market, or just “City Market”, has been around for over 40 years! Every Saturday for seven months a year, around 100 producers set up shop in the Water Street parking lot adjacent to the Downtown Mall. This is the go-to farmer’s market for all of Charlottesville. There is plenty of (paid) parking in the Water Street Parking Garage, and you can walk a block over to the Downtown Mall afterwards. Note: Leave your furry friends at home! Pets are not allowed in the market.

Favorite Vendors: Mountain Culture Kombucha, Shady Lane Family Farm, J&P BBQ

Farmers in the Park

Wednesdays (3pm-7pm) from May to September

Need to get your City Market fix on a weekday? Farmers in the Park is the smaller, weekday version of the larger City Market. Many of the same vendors come to Farmers in the Park, located in Meade Park. There is plenty of open space to lie in the grass and, unlike the larger City Market, pets are allowed here!

Favorite Vendors: The Lovin’ Crab, Mountain Dream Farm
