Welcome to Hummingbirds Rest, a handcrafted log cabin where rustic charm meets modern comfort. Tucked away on 6 private acres, this peaceful retreat is the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and savor the simple pleasures of mountain life and Virginia’s wine country.
  The Space

This warm and inviting cabin comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests with:

• 1 king bedroom
• 1 queen bedroom
• 1 queen pull-out sofa
• Optional: Graco pack-n-play upon request

 
You’ll also enjoy 1.5 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen for home-cooked meals, and a cozy stone fireplace that sets the scene for relaxed evenings and long conversations.
Designed and built by renowned local woodworker and stone mason Charles McRaven, Hummingbirds Rest is full of character, craftsmanship, and thoughtful details. You’ll feel the care in every beam and stone, with all the modern comforts you need for a relaxing stay.

The real magic begins outdoors. Step out to:

• Take in sweeping mountain views and listen to birdsong
• Relax around the outdoor fire pit under a sky full of stars
• Sit by the tranquil pond with your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine
• Dine al fresco at the outdoor table or enjoy your meals on the screened-in porch

This is the kind of place where you can truly slow down—read a book on the porch, watch hummingbirds flit by, and feel completely removed from the rush of everyday life.

Though it feels wonderfully secluded, Hummingbirds Rest is just minutes from some of the area’s best wineries and breweries, including:

• Hark Winery
• Moss Winery

Downtown Charlottesville is an easy 30-minute drive, offering restaurants, shopping, history, and culture when you’re ready for a day (or night) out.
Whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a small family getaway, or a friends’ retreat, Hummingbirds Rest offers a cozy, memorable base for exploring the beauty and flavors of Virginia’s wine country.
 
In the spirit of full transparency: this is a true country property, surrounded by woods, fields, and water. You may see or hear insects, bees, spiders, geese, rabbits, HUMMINGBIRDS, and other small critters while enjoying the porch, fire pit, pond, or walking the grounds, especially at certain times of day or year. Occasionally bugs and insects slip inside.  We provide regular pest control and do our best to minimize their presence, but we can’t eliminate nature entirely. Most guests love the unplugged, close-to-nature feel, but if you prefer a more urban environment, this may not be the best fit.

Unfortunately, we do not allow pets at this property. In the case of service animals, we follow current ADA requirements. Please notify us in advance if you travel with a service animal.
