The Faulkner Room, located on the third floor with an alley-facing balcony, blends modern touches with the atmosphere of a more romantic era. Staying here is like settling into a private sitting room filled with literary ramblings and evening plans.

This sentimentally styled room is situated in The Townsman Hotel, which is unlike the typical hotel due to its bohemian style and easy self check in. The Townsman is poised just above Charlottesville’s bustling and historical Downtown Mall offering restaurants, nightlife, shops, and entertainment. It is in between Mudhouse Coffee and Rockfish Brewing Company, with no staff and no front desk, which feels like a well-kept secret right in the center of all the action. You will receive a personal code will be provided for access and all you have to do is show up. 

Explore the greater Charlottesville area and discover some of the best places to dine, shop, relax, and do a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, shopping, enchanting night life, and navigating through historical sites such as Thomas Jefferson's home of Monticello and the well-known Rotunda, all right below your feet. Like most charming, older buildings, The Townsman is not equipped with an elevator. All of the rooms require access via stairs. Please be mindful that this is a downtown urban pedestrian area with all of the excitement and nuances of a downtown location.
